Outsourcing War: The Nordic Countries and Afghanistan

Held in co-operation with the University of Iceland’s Institute of International Affairs, 

The Nordic Region in Focus and the Nordic House

2014 marks 200 years since the Nordic Countries last went to war with one another. Since then 

they have prided themselves on their peacefulness, but nonetheless they are taking part in wars 

today from Afghanistan to Libya. Danish-Afghani documentary filmmaker Nagieb Khaja went 

to Afghanistan to make a documentary on the Taliban but wound up being held captive by them. 

He will discuss his film and his experiences with guests before a special screening of his film.

Eik Skalöe meets the free spirited and peace loving Iben and falls head over heels in love. He tries to win her over by transforming himself from poet to writer, nomad, junkie and eventually lead singer in the destined-to-become-legendary band Steppeulvene.
